I think the right as really done it to themselves this time. Their best chance to overturn Roe v. Wade and forward other religious ideologies, just walked away because no one on the far right trusted Miers. Now if the Simpering Simian nominates an extremist, not only will he be catering to the most extreme factions of his support base, he'll also ensure that the Dems will do their best to torpedo the nomination.

A glimpse into Harriet Miers' possible stance on abortion has surfaced and it's not good for those who support the right to choose. I've thought all along that this whole right-wing opposition to Miers was just a well-organized smoke screen designed to make her more palatable to the left. How else do you get Democrats to support a right-wing evangelical than to have her support base turn on her?
