Caught on Camera … Almost
by Michael
We were watching the news a couple of days ago and they were showing surveillance video of a crime in progress. The image of the suspect was so poor that the only thing you could determine was that he was African American. If you really want to use video to assist in the arrest of criminals, why buy the cheapest system out there?
Sure they can enhance video but regardless of what you see on CSI, it takes time and there's only so much you can do. The old computer programming saying "garbage in, garbage out (GIGO)" applies here as well. If you start with poor quality, you'll get poor results. If you get a better camera, the cops will be able to use it immediately, instead of waiting for the enhancement process, and maybe they'll catch the suspect before he/she can change their appearance or skip town.
