We were watching the news a couple of days ago and they were showing surveillance video of a crime in progress. The image of the suspect was so poor that the only thing you could determine was that he was African American. If you really want to use video to assist in the arrest of criminals, why buy the cheapest system out there?

Fox begins airing new episodes of "Prison Break" tonight. I don't plan to watch since I forgot the show even existed. I guess I'll never know if they get out of prison or not. I don't understand why the networks insist on taking shows off the air at mid-season only to bring them back later.

Brokeback Mountain lost big. Charlize Theron's dress was awful. Salma Hayeck, Jessica Alba, Keira Knightley and Zhang Ziyi all looked great. George Clooney must have bribed someone. Lauren Bacall should have worn her glasses. Jon Stewart probably insulted enough people that he won't be back.

There's no point in commenting on Alito so I won't. The Oscars came out and Woody Allen was practically shut out. I'm a bit surprised since "Match Point" got so much Oscar buzz. I've seen 4 of the 5 best picture nominees so I''m going to be bold and make some predictions.

Special effects are killing movies. I like special effects as much if not more than the next person, but I have to agree with this article. If George Lucas had paid more attention to the story, dialogue and acting, and less on making Jar-jar look real, the three prequels might have been a whole lot better.

A middle school band has been prohibited from playing an intrumental version of the song "Louie Louie", because the lyrics of the song are supposedly "obscene". How can anyone be so asinine? It's not like they're playing "Baby Got Back" or "Me So Horny". Even the FBI cleared the song. Besides this is an intrumental performance. No lyrics. Some people are just too uptight.

I watched the Grammys last night. For the most part, I agreed with Bono's statement that it was one of the best Grammy Award shows ever. The performances were OK, except for the opening sequence of truncated songs and the Lynard Skynard medley.

OK, it's one thing to admit an error, it's another to try and pass it off as art. If this artist had said that the misspellings were an indictment of illiteracy in our society or perhaps were representative of her particular artistic style (something called naive art because of its whimsy and child-like nature) then fine. But she didn't say this.

I guess the Bushies figure we're already in the neighborhood, so why not go after Iran.

Will Ken Jennings lose on Jeopardy this week? According to a little detective work and some deductive reasoning, apparently not. The Jeopardy website lists only 11 contestants this week including Jennings. That means two new contestants each day through Friday. So if Jennings loses this week, it won't be until Friday.
