About three years ago, I found myself in between jobs and in need of something constructive to do. So I re-designed and re-engineered this site to run on WordPress. The re-design was a long overdue refresh of a design first launched in 2004. The integration of WordPress was an exercise to better understand the theme template system and get more acquainted with custom theme development.

I launched the new design with only some of the content from the old design, with every intention of migrating the rest over in the not-too-distant future. But then I got a new job. Suddenly it's three years later and I still haven't migrated any of my old projects into the no longer new site.

So today I bit the bullet and did the necessary work to move several of my art projects into the art studio. I still have to add my very early web art. But the rest is there and looking great. Now if I could just get the rest of my web design projects added to the design studio, everything will finally be in place. By then of course, it will be time for a re-design that is more mobile friendly. But I think I can let this design sit a while longer.

We were watching the news a couple of days ago and they were showing surveillance video of a crime in progress. The image of the suspect was so poor that the only thing you could determine was that he was African American. If you really want to use video to assist in the arrest of criminals, why buy the cheapest system out there?

Sure they can enhance video but regardless of what you see on CSI, it takes time and there's only so much you can do. The old computer programming saying "garbage in, garbage out (GIGO)" applies here as well. If you start with poor quality, you'll get poor results. If you get a better camera, the cops will be able to use it immediately, instead of waiting for the enhancement process, and maybe they'll catch the suspect before he/she can change their appearance or skip town.

Fox begins airing new episodes of "Prison Break" tonight. I don't plan to watch since I forgot the show even existed. I guess I'll never know if they get out of prison or not. I don't understand why the networks insist on taking shows off the air at mid-season only to bring them back later.

Speaking of seasons. Is there really a season in TV anymore? It seems that the networks never run new shows for more than a couple of weeks before they rerun episodes from previous seasons. Fox seems to do this more than any of the other networks. Their reality shows seem to be the only programs that are free of season long interruptions.

Maybe that's why they can't build any momentum in the ratings. They hook people on a show, then they take the show off the air in order to show the 100th version of American Idol. So if you don't care about some contrived pop singer, you switch to a show from the competition and decide to stick with the competition even after the Fox show came back.

As far as we're concerned, there hasn't been anything worth watching on Monday nights since they put Prison Break on hiatus. We've stopped watching TV on Mondays in favor of doing something more fulfilling. We'll probably stick with our new routine. That's what routines are all about after all. If something disrupts your old routine, you come up with new ones and stick with them.

George Clooney must have bribed someone. Lauren Bacall should have worn her glasses. Jon Stewart probably insulted enough people that he won't be back.

I've seen 4 of the 5 best picture nominees so I''m going to be bold and make some predictions.

There's no point in commenting on Alito so I won't. The Oscars came out and Woody Allen was practically shut out. I'm a bit surprised since "Match Point" got so much Oscar buzz. I've seen 4 of the 5 best picture nominees so I''m going to be bold and make some predictions.

Best Picture
"Good Night and Good Luck" and "Brokeback Mountain" are the two favorites. Both movies were very good. I would be happy with either one getting the Oscar. I think that "Good Night and Good Luck" is the better film, but "Brokeback Mountain" will win because it is such a ground breaking film.

Lead Actor
If Phillip Seymour Hoffman doesn't win, then someone stuffed the box. The other performances were good, but Hoffman wasn't just someone playing Capote, he WAS Capote.

Supporting Actor
Jake Gyllenhaal should get the Oscar. Without him, Heath Ledger has no one to play off of and there's no movie.

Lead Actress
Even though I haven't seen her performance yet, I think that Felicity Huffman will win this because Judi Dench and Charlize Theron have already won, singing is not enough for Reese Witherspoon to win, and Keira Knightley is still trying to be taken seriously. Being on a hit TV show on ABC (which is televising the Oscars) helps too.

Supporting Actress
This is a tough one. I'll go with Michelle Williams because she's in "Brokeback".

Directing
Another tough one. My dart board says George Clooney gets it.

That's the major awards. I'll eschew the rest due to lack of time and interest.

I like special effects as much if not more than the next person, but I have to agree with this article. If George Lucas had paid more attention to the story, dialogue and acting, and less on making Jar-jar look real, the three prequels might have been a whole lot better.

How can anyone be so asinine? It's not like they're playing "Baby Got Back" or "Me So Horny". Even the FBI cleared the song. Besides this is an intrumental performance. No lyrics. Some people are just too uptight.

I watched the Grammys last night. For the most part, I agreed with Bono's statement that it was one of the best Grammy Award shows ever. The performances were OK, except for the opening sequence of truncated songs and the Lynard Skynard medley.

But then they had to go and give Ray Charles the Album and Record of the Year awards. I know that it shouldn't be a surprise that a recently "Legend" should get an award posthumously, but they were doing so well at awarding real talent and artistry before those awards.

I just don't see how an album of Charles' old material reworked for duets could be better than Green Day's "American Idiot". All the other nominees in both categories had more substance and creativity than "Genius Loves Company" album.

If this artist had said that the misspellings were an indictment of illiteracy in our society or perhaps were representative of her particular artistic style (something called naive art because of its whimsy and child-like nature) then fine. But she didn't say this.

Instead she blames officials who were present during the intallation for not catching the errors. Then she says that true artisans wouldn't care any way. Her last words in the article are just a bunch of bullshit. Just admit you were wrong and fix it.
