Reunion of Brothers

Monday, September 13th, 2010

I last saw my brother Matt in the summer of 1992. He was visiting our mother during Summer vacation. I had not seen Matt very much in the previous four years because his father had obtained sole custody and had moved to Southern California. (more...)

Cutting the Cable

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Our recent move and the digital TV conversion prompted us to give up Comcast and go with free over-the-air TV. So far, so good. (more...)

Farewell Oakland, Hello Again, Berkeley

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

The move is finally complete and now the unpacking begins. This task is even more daunting when you suddenly find yourself squeezed into a place that is 200 square feet less than you're used to. (more...)

Two weeks ago today, my uncle was killed in a head-on collision while heading South on Interstate 5. In the time since, we have been doing what we can to help my aunt cope with this tragedy. (more...)

Merry Christmas!

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

Despite the lack of permanent employment, we've still had a great holiday. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get my new site fully operational yet. Too many meetings, phone calls and baby distractions to focus. (more...)

Where Am I?

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

My recent transition to a free agent has precluded me from posting updates lately which is why the election passed unremarked here. Finding new work is time consuming and more important than blog posts. Never-the-less, more posts will be coming soon. Also in the works, a new design for this site. So stay tuned.

Palm Drops the Ball with Treo Pro Launch

Monday, August 25th, 2008

As the end of our current two-year contract approaches, I've been considering what phones I should look at for upgrades. Besides trying to save as much as possible on the phone, I want to make sure that the phone is of much better quality than the phones we got before. Sony Ericcson Redux

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Last week I received a call from an upper-tier Sony Ericsson support person. They had received the letter I wrote in relation to the phone that had failed for the second time. The good news according to them was that I was going to receive a new phone to replace the one that broke. Unwilling to give them the benefit of doubt, I waited until the replacement phone actually arrived before I admitting that all was forgiven. The phone arrived Friday. I was not impressed.

Don’t Buy Sony Ericsson Phones

Friday, January 18th, 2008

In November 2006, I purchased two Sony Ericsson Z525a cell phones. Within in three months, the screen on one phone turned blank white and could not be reset without being sent to a repair center. A few months later, the second phone had the same problem with the same result. Fortunately, the phones were still under warranty, so my only (not insignificant) cost was shipping. Unfortunately, the first phone is malfunctioning again and the warranty has expired.

Full-time Housedad for a Weekend

Monday, November 12th, 2007

I was the primary parent this weekend because Leslie was engaged in some important Buddhist teachings. This means I got to keep up with 16-month-old, clean the house, grocery shop, cook and conduct some business over the course of two days. Needless to say, I need a weekend to recover from my weekend.
