Anyone who maintains that the local housing market is still booming is either delusional or a real estate agent (probably both). Home sales in the Bay Area were down 36 percent in October compared to last year. What doesn't make sense is that the median price in the area still rose 2.4 percent compared to last year. If sales are down, and foreclosures are up, how does the median price defy market forces?

When the iPhone launched last week, many would-be entrepreneurs thought they could cash in by purchasing a second phone and selling it for well over the retail price. It looks like they were wrong. Those suckers who overpaid resellers should have been more patient. Those extra phones that people couldn't resell should be back on store shelves in a week.

Another spammer has been arrested. But I haven't seen any reduction in the amount of spam I get. In fact, I had to disable my "Catch Phrase" submission form because some moron thought they could use it to get their stupid links on my site.

It's remarkable that they were able to fix the freeway so quickly. So why has it take so long to finish construction on I-880 in Fremont?

A certain SFPD officer is making a name for himself as a tough guy. So far, the tough guy has cost the city nearly two hundred grand in lawsuits with more to come. i don't care how good or tough he is, he can't be worth all this hassle.

It took them a whole month to do it, but CBS Radio has indeed fired JV and Elvis for their racist prank in April. Keep in mind that they weren't fired for doing the prank in the first place, they were fired for replaying the tape of the prank after Imus had been fired. If it weren't for the replay, they'd still be on the air.

There has to be a better way to cope with flight anxieties than drinking so much that you lose all sense of judgment. This woman is lucky that she's getting off so lightly. Even money says she'll find herself on the no-fly list or subjected to extra security screening the next time she flies.

You would think after the Imus thing that these boneheads would reconsider their shtick before taking this kind of stuff on the air again. You would be wrong. They went full-speed ahead with a racist prank that will probably cost them their jobs again.

I decided not to get caught up in this issue of whether Imus should be fired or not since that seemed obvious. But now that the inevitable has happened, the analysis has begun. I have a couple of issues with this particular article.

The recent incident at last month's Critical Mass bike ride in San Francisco has stirred up new opposition to bike advocates. The incident itself will probably boil down to a he said/she said situation. I doubt the driver was totally blameless, but that doesn't justify terrorizing children the way the bicyclists did.
