I've been waiting to type that headline all season. Nolan's management of the team has been a joke practically from day one. His handling of Alex Smith should ensure that he never get another head coaching gig in the NFL. You don't draft a QB at number one, start him before he is ready, change offenses on him every year, and provide no receivers for him to throw to, and then blame him for playing poorly.

What kind of Olympics would it be without a little controversy? There are questions about the real ages of the Chinese women gymnasts that won the gold medal this week. Maybe what really happened is that the real He, Yang and Jiang are 16, but they weren't good enough, so in the interest of the state, they were replaced with better but younger athletes to compete in their place.

The self-styled "mastermind in chemistry" faces three counts of lying to federal agents during investigations that began with his anonymous tip that set off the BALCO scandal in 2003. His exact motives for blowing the whistle in the first place are still unknown, though I suspect it was related to his competitive nature.

Looks like Floyd Landis is going to lose his Tour de France title due to the positive tests performed at the French lab Chatenay-Malabry. He'll probably take this to the end with one more appeal, but the writing's on the wall. It's over.

Former Warrior point guard, Tim Hardaway recently stated that he "Hates gay people" in response to another former NBA player who recently came out. It was a rare candid statement that reflects the attitudes of many male athletes, and it may cost him plenty in the short term.

Terrell Owens states that a quote in his "autobiography" is a misquote. A misquote... (insert dramatic pause) ...in an autobiography. How does that happen? Was he interviewing himself and made erroneous notes? Was the tape warped and unintelligible? Oh!!! It was the co-author's fault! But it's still an autobiography, right?
