• Denali Software Home Page and Site Navigation

My first objective at Denali was to update the look and feel of the corporate website by re-designing the home page and implementing a new global navigation for the site.

  • Design of Denali

The focus on Denali home page design was to be the feature product promotion that could be either an animated Flash movie or a static image. This space spanned 4 columns of the symetrical grid layout based on a fixed-width format. The top nav section that was applied to all the pages of the site featured buttons for the major sections of the site. The subtle gradient shift toward the right brings the user eye to the links in the top right corner. The four columns below the promotional space will appear above the fold on most maximized browser windows so that users will be prompted to contiue scrolling down to read the content in each column. The design was modified later to give the news column more emphasis by expanding its column across two columns and moving the events information to the fourth column. Customized design elements include the navigation buttons, layout and illustrations.

  • Development of Denali

The structure of the page is built with XHTML 1.0 Transitional. CSS is used for layout and presentation. The top nav roll-over effect is an implementation of CSS sprites. Dynamic content pages were created using XML/XSLT.
